The National Service Training Program (NSTP) of Xavier University held a tree-planting activity on September 27 in seven different areas.

The activity was held in the barangays of Macasandig, Lapasan, Gusa, Cugman, FS Catanico, Tablon, Balulang, Mapawa Nature Park and camaman-an simultaneously with other schools across Cagayan de Oro City.

In line with the Executive Order No 26 or the National Greening Program, the NSTP Educators Association in Region 10 (NEAR 10) has aimed the event at nurturing the role of the youth in nation-building particularly in preserving and protecting the environment.

Moreover, it formed part of the students’ support on the policies of the country to pursue sustainable development for poverty reduction, food security, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The tree-planting activity was possible in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 10, Road and Traffic Administration (RTA), Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) and the councils of the said areas.
