The Xavier Stage presents Rody Vera's "Pinatay si Mayor" as season ender.

The Xavier Stage (TXS), a resident repertory company of Xavier University, closes their 5th theater season centered on Advocacy Theater on peace, good governance and positive discipline with Rody Vera’s “Pinatay Si Mayor,” in celebration of the National Arts Month.

TXS previously staged “Gamutin Ang Bayan,” a twinbill production on peace and Philippine politics, in September 2015 and “Istoryahi Lang Ko,” a musical on positive child discipline, in December 2015 with a re-staging last January.

Rody Vera’s “Pinatay Si Mayor” is a musical satire about voters’ education and Philippine elections. What seems to be a promising future for the townspeople of Talon Pikit is ruined when their newly elected mayor is murdered before he could assume office. Officials are at a loss as to the motive of the killing and the identity of the killer. Could it be that the murder was politically motivated or did it involve a personal issue? Is the killer one of the townspeople of Talon Pikit or a political rival?

In line with their Advocacy Theater, the Xavier Stage hopes to share the message: “Vote wisely and be vigilant after elections.”

“Pinatay Si Mayor” features Muriel Lomadilla, as the incumbent Mayor Vangie Palaban, one of the suspects in the murder. The ensemble cast is a mix of experienced and new actors from the TXS resident pool of artists.

The play premiers at 7:30PM on February 22  at the Xavier University Little Theater. Ticket prices are ₱100.00 for the premier and ₱75.00 for regular shows.
