ENROLMENT GUIDELINES FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS DESIRING TO STUDY AT XU
 
I.  Present the following documents for verification at the Office of the University Registrar, window 8:
            A.  One (1) photocopy of passport pages where name, photo, birth date, birthplace, valid visa and 
                  latest entry/arrival dates appear
            B.  One (1) authenticated* copy of birth certificate
            C.  One(1) authenticated* copy of marriage certificate (for married women)
            D. Academic Credentials:
  1. If freshman undergraduate, he must have completed at least Grade 11. He must also present the following requirements: (i) authenticated* high school report card and its English translation, (ii) One (1) photocopy of authenticated* certificate of graduation or certified true copy of the high school diploma and its English translation.  If necessary, he also needs to present a DEP-ED certificate of eligibility for admission to college.
     
  2. If transferee,  he must also present  the authenticated* copies of the official Transcript of Records  (TOR) with grading system and its English translation bearing the original signature of the registrar and seal of the school.
     
  3. For MA/MS student,he must also present the ff requirements:  (a)  authenticated* official Transcript of Records (TOR)  for the bachelor’s degree with the official grading system and its English translation, bearing the original signature of the registrar and seal of the school (b)  photocopy of authenticated* certificate of graduation in college or certified true copy of the college diploma and its English translation.
     
  4. For Ph.D student,he must also present the ff requirements:  (a)  authenticated* official Transcript of Records (TOR)  for the master’s degree with the official grading system and its  English translation, bearing the original signature of the registrar and seal of the school (b)  photocopy of authenticated* certificate of graduation in graduate school or certified true copy of the graduate school diploma and its English translation.
II.  As soon as verified, receive from University Registrar a clearance note to take the XU Entrance Examination and present the note to the testing officer. To ensure sufficient time for the application of a student visa 9(f) or Special Study Permit (SSP) with the Bureau of Immigration, the student should take the entrance exam before the following dates:
                     a.  January 15, if the applicant intends to enroll in the 1st Semester (June-October)
                     b.  June 15, if the applicant intends to enroll in the 2nd Semester (November-March)

III.  If you pass the entrance exam, proceed to the Director of Admission and request for a Notice of Acceptance.   The Director of Admission would also require you to submit other requirements like medical certificate, dental record, letters of recommendation, etc.
       
IV.   The Notice of Acceptance is necessary to obtain a student visa 9(f) for students who are at least 18 years old and  SSP for those who are below 18. Spouses and unmarried dependent children below 21 years old of aliens under the ff. categories are exempted from securing student visa and SSP:
          a.  permanent foreign residents
          b.  aliens with valid working permits under section 9(d), 9(g) and 47 (a)(2) if the Philippine
              Immigration Act of 1940, as amended;
          c.  personnel of foreign diplomatic and consular missions residing in the Philippines and their
              dependents;
          d.  holders of Special Investor’s Resident Visa (SIRV) and Special Retiree’s Visa (SSRV) an
          e.  foreign students coming to the Philippines with 47(1)(2) visas issued pursuant to existing laws,
               e.g. PD 2021

V.  With your student visa or SSP, go through the usual registration procedure.

VI.  Upon validation of enrolment, submit all pertinent documents listed in A to D and One(1) photocopy of the Alien Certificate of Registration  (ACR), I-CARD and Certificate of Residence for Temporary Status (CRTS) valid for the semester of enrolment  issued by the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

*IMPORTANT:  The authentication must be done by the Philippine Foreign Service Post (PFSP) or embassy located in the student-applicant’s country of origin or legal residence.  The English translation needs to be authenticated as well.
