The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) is the soul of the Jesuit education at Xavier University.  It offers the core subjects of all the colleges, providing the foundation for the human and spiritual development of individuals.

CAS is home to the largest academic programs with disciplines clustering around Humanities, Languages, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences. The college deepens the social awareness, competence and commitment of students for the service and development of the region, Mindanao and country.

The college with its more or less 160 highly qualified faculty members engage students to excel in the academe and other endeavors through instructions, researches, and outreach programs.

in the past, its Sociology-Anthropology Department was awarded the Region's Center of Excellence Award while its Chemistry Department bagged the Center of Development Award.

Today, CAS continues its pursuit for academic excellence and community outreach. It has Level III PAASCU Accreditation. It has two research centers:  The Research Institute for Mindanao Culture (RIMCU) and Mckeough Marine Center (MMC). Its linkages with Local Government Units (LGU) sustain its Coastal Research Management and strengthen its research and extension network. The Office of International Cooperation and Networking (OICN) is also negotiating with foreign universities for international linkages.
