DEGREE PROGRAM

Bachelor of Science in Nursing with AHSE

All Xavier University nursing students begin with the 2-year Associate in Health Science Education (AHSE), a program promulgated by the Commission on Higher Education. A preparatory course, the AHSE leads up to another 2-year program, the completion of which earns for the student a degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

A student registers for the professional nursing courses until he/she finishes the prescribed number of units in nursing theories, concepts and principles and render the required hours in Related Learning Experience (RLE).

Rationale of the AHSE Program

The common two-year preparatory program is an undergraduate program that will prepare students for entry into any of the health courses: Dentistry, Dietetics, Medical Technology, Medicine, Midwifery, Nursing, Nutrition, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Physical Therapy, and Radiologic Technology. The 2-year preparatory course comprises the general education component of all Baccalaureate degrees leading to the Health Profession.

Upon completion of the two-year preparatory course, graduates are equipped with the appropriate competence to function as a primary health care provider. They shall be awarded with a certificate in Two-Year Association in Health Science Education.
