Having the most number of students in Xavier University, the School of Business and Management started as a one-year course on commerce.  It was already among the courses offered when Ateneo de Cagayan expanded in its younger years to include college levels.

Eventually, the previous one-year course was replaced by a Bachelor of Science in Commerce with majors in Accounting, Banking and Finance, Economics, Marketing and Management.  And in 1970, the Master of Business Management was offered.  The BS Information Management was added in 1997 and the BS Management Accounting in 2001.

In 2004, it became the School of Business and Management, and two years later, it offered the Doctor in Corporate Management program.
