XAVIER UNIVERSITY CENTER FOR LANGUAGES

OBJECTIVES OF THE XUCL

  • It provides practicing professionals and those starting to practice their profession with the opportunity to learn a foreign language and/or to improve their communication skills in English;
  • It offers review courses for those who are planning to take the exams required for working or studying abroad such as TOEFL, TESOL, TESL, IELTS, TECL, and for European languages DELE, DELF, TestDaf.

The XUCL offers 3 types of courses::
 

 
  • Regular
 
  • Tutorial
 
  • Modular

 

Regular courses are offered to all XU students currently enrolled. Enrollment is done at the beginning of the semester following enrollment procedure. The students should not exceed the load prescribed by CHED for a given semester.
 

Tutorial and modular classes are offered on a non-regular schedule. Each program consists of 30 hours minimum to receive a University certificate.
 

A tutorial class is conducted with 1 to 4 participants, scheduled by the Director in agreement with the student(s) and depending on the availability of the teacher.

 

CLASSES

A small class size of 20 to 35 students is maintained in order to emphasize interaction and students' participation in the use of the language.
Development and improvement of the 4 macro skills of listening, speaking reading and writing are stressed.
Emphasis on proficiency, fluency, efficiency and effectiveness in the use of the oral and written English.
Special tailored modules are organized; XUCL makes a proposal in terms of content, length, venue and cost.
