As one of its major projects, Xavier Ateneo is set to embark on the XU Grade School Consolidation (#OneXUGS). The decision to consolidate the two XU Grade School Campuses (Macasandig and Pueblo) was made by the Xavier Ateneo Trustees, after several years of thorough discussion and discernment, in its regular meeting on March 7, 2020 (Board Resolution #49 Series of SY 2019-2020).

However, due to the pandemic, initial planning was put on hold for a year. Thus, the planning and implementation, which will be done in phases, will begin in April this year until the Year 2023. The university aims to fully integrate a unified XU Grade School into the Basic Education Complex in Pueblo come SY2022-2023.

The One XUGS Consolidation project forms part of the Strategic Plan of the University, in line with its Mission and Vision of “Becoming a Leading ASEAN University Forming Leaders of Character by 2033.” In consonance with 21st-century learning, the consolidation will pave the way for “Innovation” and “Reinvention” of the XU Grade School in the areas of curriculum and instruction, human resources, physical facilities, support services, and administration.

As a way of proceeding, committees will be formed to facilitate and consolidate plans for the various areas of concern (e.g. curriculum and instruction, human resources, communication, facilities, etc.). The committees will also take up important related concerns of our Grade School employees and parents.

With the huge tasks ahead, XU President Fr Mars Tan SJ is requesting everyone in the Grade School from both campuses to support and be involved in this whole journey of reinvention and innovation for One XU Grade School (#OneXUGS).

In his official memo released on March 15, 2021, he wrote, “I am inviting everyone in the Grade School to take the XUGS Consolidation project as your own, as this will be your new school and your new home.”
