The City of Davao hosted the recently-concluded Psychological Association of the Philippines (PAP) 56th National Convention, attended by more than 1,700 psychologists, psychometricians, and other allied professionals across the country.

Fr Joel Tabora Jr, president of Ateneo de Davao University, formally welcomed the participants. He emphasized the importance of inclusivity as fundamental to psychology profession.

The convention theme “Inclusive Psychology: Valuing Diversity and Accommodation Among Filipinos” was the core element of all the learning sessions, organized symposium, research forum, and workshops from September 18 to 20. 

Select Psychology faculty and students from Xavier Ateneo were among the few chosen researchers to present at the said national convention.

Jhoanna Marie Mocorro, RPsy, chairperson of XU Psychology Department, described the convention as a “week when we get to be together with colleagues, idols in the field, former students, former classmates, and our longtime friends, simply because we are in the field that we love ... Psychology!”

The event captured the significance of psychology as a profession as it highlights its contribution to science and its impact to our country.∎
