The Researcher Onboarding Session for Faculty and Student Researchers, and Research Advisers, a research capability building activity of the College of Engineering, Xavier University, in collaboration with the Kinaadman: University Research Office (KURO), was held on October 13, 2021, Wednesday at 9:30-11:30 in the morning, via Zoom. The activity was organized and hosted by Dr Maria Theresa I Cabaraban, the Research Coordinator for the College of Engineering. The session aimed to facilitate and channel discussions of relevant processes to implement research protocols effectively and ethically especially during the flexible learning period. Dr Hercules Cascon, the Dean of the College of Engineering, who gave dynamic and full support of the activity, rendered the opening remarks.

The Interim Guidelines for Continuing Research during Flexible Learning was presented by Dr Heide R Rabanes, Dean for Research. Dr Faustino Jr M Tarongoy, the Research Ethics Coordinator, discussed the Research Ethics Policy and Procedure. Participated by a good number of faculty members and more than a hundred students from the College of Engineering, the activity provided the venue for addressing concerns and questions on research and research ethics procedures and guidelines. Dr Cabaraban wrapped up the session by emphasizing her hopes that insights from the session would deepen commitment to and promote integrity in research, and would stimulate more research works.
