Anchored on the Universal Apostolic Preferences (UAP) on Walking with the Excluded and the Renewed Province Plan (RPP) thrust on Feeding the Hungry, Xavier Ateneo, through the Social Involvement and Advocacy Program (SIAP), responds to the needs of displaced Indigenous Peoples (IP) families from Quezon, Bukidnon by providing emergency humanitarian assistance and relief packs. Xavier Ateneo works hand-in-hand with the Amnesty International – Cagayan de Oro Chapter in facilitating the relief assistance as it responds to the humanitarian needs of the displaced IP families.

On October 3, 2022, student leaders from the Central Student Government (CSG), the Council of Nursing Students (CONUS), and The Crusader Publication, together with Xavier Ateneo faculty, formators, and staff  readily volunteered themselves for the sorting and repacking of relief packs. As an institutional response to the needs of the disposed IP families, Xavier Ateneo prepared 300 bags of relief packs consisting of 5 kilos of rice, 6 packs of instant noodles, 5 canned sardines, and  1 pack of dried fish. Each family will receive one bag of relief pack and 10 liters of bottled drinking water.

The call to walk alongside individuals and communities who are vulnerable, excluded, and marginalized,  especially with the IP communities, is a program initiated in pursuit of the Society of Jesus’ Universal Apostolic Preferences (UAP) on Walking with the Excluded and the Philippine Renewed Province Plan (RPP)  thrust on Feeding the Hungry. Xavier Ateneo desires to be a companion in the mission of reconciliation of justice, walking with the poor and the outcasts of the world.
