Xavier University's College of Nursing once again took the top spot in the November 2022 Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination (NLE) with a hundred percent (100%) passing rate or a total of 192 examinees. This is quite a feat for XU being a top performing school in the NLE for 13 successive times. Not only this, XU produced eight topnotchers taking the fourth place, Yalany Angela C. Soliva; fifth, Tiffany Marie P. De Vera; seventh, Gwyneth Grace C. Porras and Rhea Marie A. Tarife; eighth, Myles Therese L. Arellano; ninth, Casey Angelique B. Ty; and 10th, Emmanuel Lorenzo G. Ebarle and Eve Kathlynn L. Viudor.
XU President Fr Mars P Tan commends the College of Nursing and its successful examinees. “Our nursing passers have made Xavier Ateneo community and their families happy and proud of their excellent performance in the NLE. My warmest congratulations to all of them and to the College of Nursing for the 13th peat 100% passing rate and with 8 topnotchers! Indeed, in XU, we experience excellence and make it happen!”
The Dean of the College of Nursing, Dr Mary Grace Paayas, also conveyed her gratefulness for the outcome of the recent NLE and showed pride for the 2022 batch of the College of Nursing of Xavier University. She said that this group, “which is the first to tackle the government's prolonged K-12 Program and the first to hurdle the great challenges of the deadly COVID-19 worldwide pandemic, has extraordinarily continued its consistent and sterling 100% passing record in the Nurse Licensure Exam for years and has even set its own record by producing the most number of topnotchers ever: 8 from nos. 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, and 10.” Dr Paayas attributed this success to the quality of education that XU provides. “This is a solid testament to their Jesuit education, their extraordinary determination to excel inspite of these seemingly insurmountable challenges, their faith in divine providence, and the equally extraordinary devotion and competence of their faculty to guide them during these extraordinary times. These legendary Jesuit nurses are the constant pride of Xavier University. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam!”
XU is one of 19 schools that captured the number one place among the Top 10 schools in the Philippines. Other schools in Mindanao that made it to the top 10 are MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU), Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU), and Central Mindanao University (CMU). The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) noted that out of 24,903 takers, 18,529 passed the exam. It added that the registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card and Certificate of Registration will be done on-line in 2023 on the following dates: January 9-13, January 16-20, and January 23-27.
