kj1Dressed with a Purpose. Bedizened with their national costumes, the contestants of the Search for the Ambassador of United Asian Nations share their views on various psycho-social issues, aside from their knowledge on culture & history of their nations.

On November 21-25, 2022, the XUJHS Araling Panlipunan Department successfully launched its Linggo ng Panlipunang Kamalayan 2022, with the theme: “Pagkakaiba ay Tanggapin, Pagkakakilanlan ay Yakapin, Pandaigdigang kapayapaan ating Abutin!”.

Mrs Gerlie C Villaranda, Araling Panlipunan Department Chairperson opened the event as she emphasized on the importance of achieving peace in every form of life in the world.

Moreover, the grandeur of diverse cultures was spectated by the XUJHS community as select grade 7 representatives ramped the national costumes of Asian countries on stage.

The week-long celebration held several contests for all grade level; the Search for the Ambassador of United Asian Nations for grade 7 students; YouTalk: Usapang Pangkapayapaan for grade 8 students; Atenistang Ekonomista for Grade 9 students; and Poster Making contests for the grade 10 students.

These contests aim to promote students’ engagement and awareness on various concepts related to Araling Panlipunan – cultural diversity and preservation, celebration of peace, and understanding of economic situations.

In essence, the significance of this celebration holds true to the understanding of the value of each individual student in shaping and recalibrating their responsibilities in today’s nation building. #

Sponsoring the November Friday Mass

As part of the week-long celebration, the AP Departments sponsored the First Friday Community Mass for the month on November 10, 2022.

The Eucharistic Celebration was celebrated by Fr RB Hizon, SJ and concelebrated by Fr Arman Samonte of the society of Jesus.

The celebration was held significant as it marked the start of the Linggo ng Panlipunang Kamalayan by the Araling Panlipunang department and most specially it remembers the souls of those departed as well as of those who are still with us but are forgotten.

Mass offerings such as adult diapers, toiletries, and monetary donations for milk and vitamins, and solar lamps were specially prepared for the St. Joseph Golden Home Foundation, a home for the aged.

Moreover, symbolic offerings such as the Globe, Philippine Flag, and the Philippine constitution were offered by the sponsoring department during the Eucharistic Celebration.

The event was made more special by the presence of the sisters of the Missionary Congregation of Mary and Volunteers under the supervision of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro.
