A memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan and Golden Gate University from San Francisco, USA, was held on March 23, 2023, at Xavier University’s grounds.

Dr. Shiella C. Balbutin, Director for XU Office of International Cooperation and Networking (OICN) as well as the host for the event, began the ceremony with the introduction of all the participants who were present. Followed by the warm greetings of Dr. Juliet Q. Dalagan, XU Vice President for Higher Education, who also shared her enthusiasm for the inauguration of the partnership.

Among those who lay witness to the said event are Dr. Myra Maria V. Peralta, dean of XU’s School of Medicine, and Dr. Hercules R. Cascon, dean of XU’s College of Engineering.

Fr Mars P. Tan, SJ, XU’s president, shared his message of hope and anticipation for the possibilities that the agreement will bring to both universities. In turn, Dr. Joaquin Gonzalez III urged that the excitement lingering around the newly formed MoU be put into action sooner rather than later.

The ceremony ended with the closing remarks of Dr. Mary Rachelle R. Wapaño, Associate Dean of XU’s Office of Graduate Studies, who expressed her hope, wish, and confidence in both universities’ vision of mutual exchange.

 

The event solidified the agreement of both parties to share exchanges of faculty, students, and knowledge towards the goal of continued academic collaboration and strengthening internationalization.
