  • Major in Animal Science

Animal Science is a four-year course under the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture program. The program plays a significant role in addressing the problems of low farm productivity and food shortages in the country. The course specifically aims to make animal production a profitable enterprise without neglecting the environment. Animal Science operates both as an academic and outreach unit of the college.

Objectives

Consistent with the goals of the College of Agriculture, the Animal Science Unit is established to help accelerate agricultural development in Region X, in particular, and in the country, in general, with the following aims:

  • To provide undergraduate instruction in the different fields of Animal Science;
  • To generate, verify, and package appropriate technologies in livestock and poultry production; and,
  • To provide technical advice and services to local livestock and poultry raisers.
  • Major in Crop Science

Crop Science is a four-year course under the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture program. The course includes basic agricultural courses such as soil science, genetics, plant breeding, plant physiology, cereals, and other elective subjects on plantation and ornamental crops.

Objectives

Crop Science addresses the problems of food shortage. The course deals with the application of scientific principles in crop production. It specifically aims to produce graduates who are technologically equipped to respond to the challenges of production, utilization, handling, processing, distribution, and application of technologies.

  • Agricultural Economics

The program is designed to train graduates into becoming effective farm technologies, agricultural load researchers, and agricultural planners with skills both in the technical fields of Agriculture and Economics.

The curriculum

The curriculum includes a well-balanced set of courses in general economics, technical agriculture, 249-hour practicum in government agencies, agribusiness firms, and other related offices.

It includes a variety of subjects and courses of study with an introductory course in the economics of agriculture. It covers economic problems and related industries, marketing, processing of farm products, and agricultural price analysis.

As an applied science, it is primarily concerned with identification, description, and classification of economic problems in agriculture in order to find solutions.
