The Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan community attended its annual retreat held last 14-15 September 2023 with the theme Synodal Synergy: Embracing Our Realities, Reimagining Our Mission in a Transforming University. The retreat leaders were Fr Silvino Borres SJ for the general group at the University Chapel, and Bro Daven Manubag SJ for the newly hired at the Little Theater. Meanwhile, Fr Mars Tan SJ presided over the Opening Mass on 13 September, and Fr Amado Tumbali SJ, the Closing Mass, on 15 September.

Fr Borres centered his talk on the journey in humility with God, while Bro Manubag spoke about knowing one’s self and his journey. During the spiritual conversation, the retreatants were divided into groups for sharing and were joined by their respective facilitators.

The annual University Retreat is an XU tradition that provides all XU employees a time for spiritual renewal and physical respite.
