Xavier University recently participated in the European Higher Education Fair held at the EDSA Shangri-La Plaza from 30 September to 1 October, and online on 2 October. Serving as the regional hub for Mindanao, XU's presence in this prestigious event is a significant milestone for both the university and Mindanao.
The European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) is an annual event organized by the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines and it showcases the diverse educational opportunities available in Europe. It serves as a platform for students and educators to interact with representatives from European universities, allowing them to explore study options, scholarships, and exchange programs. This year's event also featured a hybrid format that allowed attendees to engage both in-person and online.
Xavier University's participation at EHEF 2023 demonstrates its dedication to advancing international collaborations and providing students with global perspectives. As the designated regional hub for Mindanao, XU played a crucial role in facilitating access to information about European higher education for students and educators in the region. XU’s representative, Dr Shiella C Balbutin of the Office of International Cooperation and Networking, was on hand to establish ties with European universities, exploring possibilities on exchange programs, research collaborations, and other academic partnerships.
Moreover, the university leveraged the online component of the fair to reach a wider audience as it hosted one of the structured webinars. The webinar was moderated by Engr Jefferson R Vallente Jr of the XU College of Engineering. This digital presence allowed the university to connect with individuals who couldn't attend in person, ensuring that students from Mindanao had access to valuable information about European higher education.
