In the concluding moments of 2023, the Department of Education's Regional Office, Region X, with its Education Support Division; and City Division Office in Cagayan de Oro curated two significant year-end events respectively. These events were designed to recognize and celebrate outstanding individuals and valued partners and stakeholders in the field of education.

The 2023 Stakeholders’ Convergence and Pasidungog sa Amihang Mindanao for Education Support Program meticulously organized by the Department of Education’s Regional Office in Region 10 on 5 December 2023 at N Hotel in Cagayan de Oro City, was a momentous occasion dedicated to honoring the diverse contributions of internal and external stakeholders. This event celebrated the collective efforts of Local Government Units (LGUs), representatives, city mayors, government inter-agency partners, NGOs, private collaborators, SPTA general federation presidents, and divisional program holders, all of whom played a crucial role in the successful execution of the DepEd support programs throughout the Fiscal Year 2023.

Xavier Ateneo School of Education (SOE) has emerged as a proactive supporter of the Regional Office’s educational initiatives, significantly impacting the learning outcomes in Northern Mindanao (NorMin). Collaborating closely with the DepEd Division of Cagayan de Oro City, the Xavier University Night School Program-Alternative Learning System (XU NSP-ALS) stands as a remarkable innovation, specifically catering to out-of-school youth facing distinct challenges and endorsed by the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD). This initiative underlines the University’s unwavering commitment to addressing educational inequalities and promoting inclusivity by tailoring educational opportunities for marginalized youth. Furthermore, Xavier Ateneo’s pivotal role in spearheading the Night School-Alternative Learning System, recognized as an exceptional literacy program in the 2022 National Literacy Awards, further strengthens its dedication to advancing accessible and high-quality education within the community.

The Stakeholders’ Convergence and Appreciation Day hosted by the DepEd Division of Cagayan de Oro City on 6 December 2023 at the VIP Hotel, served as a platform to honor and acknowledge the invaluable contributions of various stakeholders. Among those recognized for their unwavering support and active involvement in furthering the initiatives of the DepEd Division in Cagayan de Oro City was Xavier Ateneo. The university’s noteworthy engagement encompassed multifaceted support, including active participation in action research and serving as a pivotal partner in facilitating field study and internship programs for pre-service teachers.

Xavier Ateneo's recognized contributions during the event underscored its proactive involvement in shaping the educational landscape in Cagayan de Oro City. Through their involvement in action research and their role as a dependable partner in facilitating practical learning experiences for pre-service teachers, the university has demonstrated a deep commitment to the enhancement of educational practices. The accolades received for their significant involvement in the Night School-Alternative Learning System not only validated the effectiveness of their programs but also reaffirmed Xavier Ateneo's dedication to fostering inclusive educational opportunities, thereby empowering learners across various educational backgrounds.
