Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan recently embarked on a benchmarking and networking trip to Thailand, visiting Assumption University of Bangkok, Rangsit University, and Metharath University. This strategic initiative, led by the Vice President for Higher Education, Dr Juliet Q Dalagan, aimed to gather valuable insights and best practices for curriculum and program innovation and facilities design as inspiration for the Campus of the Future. The 32-person delegation, included the Dean and Associate Dean of the Jose P Rizal School of Medicine, the Dean of the College of Nursing, the Dean of the College of Engineering, the Dean of the College of Agriculture, and the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, along with key faculty members from across the various academic units. XU was warmly welcomed by their Thai counterparts. The trip provided a unique opportunity to witness firsthand how leading Thai universities are incorporating technology, experiential learning, and industry partnerships into their programs.

During the five-day visit in Thailand from 6 to 11 December 2023, the group was able to take a tour of the impressive Hua Mak and Suvarnabhumi campuses of The Assumption University of Bangkok and was shown how an entrepreneurship mindset that cuts across all the academic programs drive the trajectory of effective teaching and learning. The delegation also traveled to Bang Toei, Thailand, and was a witness to the ceremonial signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Metharath University. Likewise, the visit to Rangist University bore the promise of forging valuable international partnerships for future collaborations, research partnerships, and faculty and student exchange initiatives.

The delegation experienced the warmth and generosity of Thai culture, enjoying traditional cuisine, breathtaking sights, and unique cultural experiences. “This trip has been incredibly inspiring," shared Dr Dalagan. "We were impressed by the innovative approaches and commitment to excellence showcased by our Thai counterparts. Their insights and experiences will be invaluable as we continue to develop our own roadmap for the Campus of the Future."
