The Xavier University Academic Scholarship is awarded to incoming Senior High School based on the merits of high School academic performance, with a General Scholastic Aptitude (GSA) Score of 96-99% in the XU Entrance Exam, interview results, recommendations and to a certain extent, the family’s financial capability.

Senior High School Grant-in-Aid

The Senior High School Grant-in-Aid is the University’s response to provide quality education to poor but deserving students. It is a financial aid for qualified incoming Senior High School whose academic performance in high school is above average, with a General Scholastic Aptitude (GSA) Score of 80-95% in the XU Entrance Exam and whose total annual family income does not exceed to Ps 250,000.00 for a family of 5 or per capita income of Ps 50,000 as evidenced by a certified true copy of the latest annual Income Tax Return or where not applicable, a statement from BIR of tax exemption with attached affidavit of sources of income.

Steps in Applying for a Scholarship

  1. Take the required XU Qualifying Entrance Examination/CSAT
  2. Result of the XU Entrance Exam will be released through XU Website using the password given to each examinee. (For Top 2 from Junior High School, proceed to step 3)
  3. Those who are qualified to apply based on the cut-off scores are instructed to download the following scholarship forms:
    1. For Academic Scholarship Applicants
      1. Scholarship Application form (2 copies)
      2. Recommendation form (2 copies)
    2. For Senior High School Grant-in-Aid
      1. Grant-in-Aid Application form (2 copies)
      2. Recommendation form (2 copies)
    3. For Top 2 Junior High School
      1. Application forms are available at the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (in 2 copies)
  4. Submit to the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, Xavier University the following necessary documents on or before the deadline set:
    1. Duly filled-out Academic Scholarship Application Form or Senior High School Grant-in-Aid Application Form or Top 2 from Junior High School Scholarship Application Form (2 copies)
    2. Printed result of the entrance test
    3. Printed Offer Letter
    4. Two signed and sealed scholarship recommendations (use downloadable form) from
      1. (1) Principal
      2. (2) Adviser or Guidance Counselor
      3. (For Top 2: Two (2) Letters of Recommendation: one from HS Principal and one from Subject Teacher or Guidance Counselor stating that the applicant is the Top 2 from Junior High School with a total number of students 50 and above.)
    5. Photocopy of Secondary Student’s Permanent Record (Form 137-A complete up to the last grading period) certified correct by the Principal.
    6. Clear photocopy of Parents’ Income Tax Return or where not applicable, a statement from BIR of tax exemption. (For a statement of BIR of Tax Exemption Certification, please attach all other required documents, e.g. Certificate of Indigency from City Social Welfare and Development, City Assessment Department, Affidavit of sources of income duly notarized, etc.)
  5. Interview by College Scholarship Board Committee (For Top 2 from JHS, proceed to step 8)
  6. Receive notice of Scholarship Award through the High School Principal
  7. Return Acceptance/Non Acceptance Slip to Scholarship Office (Deadline for submission:  Third week of April)
  8. Process admission requirements
  9. Proceed to Scholarships Office upon enrolment for the following:
    1. Tuition exemption slip
    2. Fill out subjects enrolled in the scholars’ academic record
    3. Scholarship Contract  for the signatures of scholar and parents

Additional requirements for Top 2 from Junior High School

Letter of application addressed to the director, office of scholarships and financial aid, xavier university, Cagayan de Oro city.

Additional requirements for Senior High School Grant-in-Aid

  1. Certificate of employment and compensation (including bonuses, commissions, allowance)
  2. If OFWs must submit a copy of employment contract
  3. Photocopy copy of pay slip for the last 3 months prior to submission of application form.
  4. If parents are self-employed, submit a detailed description of the nature of work or business and an income and expense financial statement for the previous year
  5. If parents are retired or were retrenched within the past 3 years, submit a copy of the Certificate of Retirement or separation with the amount of retirement/separation benefits received.
  6. Photocopy of latest electric and water bills for the last 3 months prior to submission of application form.
