As an educational institution, Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan offers scholarships and financial grants to students who excel in academics, sports, and culture and arts. The Admissions and Aid Office (AAO) and the University Scholarship Committee oversee the administration of the scholarships and grants-in-aid.

XUSHS Academic Scholarships (For Incoming Senior High School)

The Academic Scholarship is awarded to incoming Grade 11 Senior High School students, who are bonafide citizens of the Philippines. It is based on the result of XU Scholarship Exam (CSAT). This scholarship grant is categorized into:

  • XUSHS President’s Scholarship Grant (Top 10 of CSAT)
    Coverage: Full tuition, matriculation, and other school fees, with 5K allowance for textbooks and uniforms
  • XUSHS Merit Scholarship Grant (Top 1%)
    Coverage: Full tuition, matriculation, and other school fees
  • XUSHS Academic Scholarship Grant (Top 9%)
    Coverage: Full tuition and matriculation only 

Steps in Applying for Academic Scholarship

Step 1. Register online for the Admission/Scholarship application through the XU website: http://www.xu.edu.ph/testing

Step 2. Take the required XU Scholarship/Entrance Examination/CSAT (If CSAT was not taken at XU, please bring the original and one photocopy of CSAT result at the University Testing Center for uploading).

      (Schedule for XU Entrance Exams: Every Saturday of January)

a) The result of the XU Entrance Exam will be released 2nd week of February through the XU website using the password given to each examinee.
b) Receive notice via email of Scholarship Award
c) Download and submit the Confirmation Slip on or before the 1st week of March for the contract signing.

XUSHS Saint Ignatius Scholarship Grant

This scholarship is intended for the two top students of their Junior High School batch with at least fifty (50) completers. The applicant must take and pass the XU Entrance Exam.

Coverage:

Full Tuition and Full Matriculation (for Top 1)
Half Tuition and Half Matriculation (for Top 2)

Steps in Applying for XUSHS St Ignatius Scholarship Grant

Step 1. Register online for the Admission/Scholarship application through the XU website: http://www.xu.edu.ph/testing

Step 2. Take the required XU Scholarship/Entrance Examination/CSAT (Schedule for Entrance Exams: Every Saturday of January)

The qualified applicant for the Top 1 or Top 2 scholarship needs to submit the following documents:

a) Letter of Application addressed to the Director, Admissions and Aid Office, Xavier University, Cagayan de Oro City
b) Two filled-out recommendation form (downloadable online): one from your Junior High School Principal and one from your Class Adviser/Guidance Counselor
c) Certification from your Junior High School Principal stating that the applicant is the Top  1 or Top 2 in their batch with a total number of 50 or more Junior High School completers.

Step  3. Proceed to enrolment process.

Archbishop James TG Hayes SJ Scholarships

The Archbishop Hayes SJ Scholarships for XUSHS provide quality Ateneo education to deserving students from public and private junior high schools. It is a scholarship offered to qualified incoming Senior High School students with a General Scholastic Aptitude (GSA) score of at least 86% in the XU Entrance Exam (CSAT) and whose family per capita income does not exceed Php500,000.00 as evidenced by a certified true copy of the latest annual Income Tax Return or where not applicable, a statement from BIR of Tax Exemption with attached affidavit of sources of income.

Coverage: Equivalent to Php40,000.00 to cover a portion of the school fees, plus voucher from DepEd

The qualified applicant for Archbishop James TG Hayes SJ scholarship needs to submit the following documents:
     a) Two filled-out recommendation form (downloadable online): one from your JHS Principal and one from your Class Adviser/Guidance Counselor|
     b) Certification from the Junior High School Principal stating that the applicant is part of the top 10% of the JHS batch with at least 50 completers.

Andrew L Gotianun Sr Center for Integrated Technologies (ALGCIT) Scholarships

The Andrew L Gotianun Sr Center for Integrated Technologies (ALGCIT), an endowment from the Gotianun Foundation, is a three-year residential Tech-Voc Senior High School Full Scholarship for competent yet financially disadvantaged youth. The program features (1) quality instruction and learning environment, (2) intensive Jesuit-Ateneo formation, and (3) an extended academic, community, and on-the-job experience. ALGCIT scholars will be housed in modern and safe dormitories, and hold their classes in a state-of-the-art building situated inside the Manresa complex. The new campus provides plenty of opportunities and activities for our ALGCIT scholars while they complete their academic requirements and develop their technical skills.

The four ALGCIT Tech-Voc Specializations are the following:

  • Automotive Servicing
  • Computer and Electronics Technology
  • Energy and Power System
  • Mechanical Design and Fabrication

The Center has existing partnerships with numerous local and international companies to employ its graduates. Students who complete the program are also eligible to take the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) National Certificate (NC) examinations for the respective qualifications embedded in each program.

At the end of the three-year ALGCIT program, the scholars are expected to graduate world-ready, with international standard competencies, and spiritual and social commitment the Xavier Ateneo way.

Saint Francis Xavier Grant-in-Aid

The Saint Francis Xavier Grant-in-Aid is Xavier Ateneo's response to provide quality education to poor but deserving students. It is a financial aid for qualified incoming freshmen whose academic performance in high school is above average, with a General Scholastic Aptitude (GSA) score of 86-94% in the XU Scholarship Exam (RTCU) and whose total annual family income does not exceed Php500,000.00 for a family of 5 or per capita income of Php100,000 as evidenced by a certified true copy of the latest annual Income Tax Return or when not applicable, a statement from BIR of Tax Exemption with attached affidavit of sources of income.

Coverage: Php15,000.00 per semester

Steps in Applying for the St Francis Xavier Scholarship

Step 1. Register online for the Admission/Scholarship application through the XU website: http://www.xu.edu.ph/testing

Step 2. Take the required XU Qualifying Entrance/RTCU (Schedule for Entrance Exams: Every Saturday of November)

The qualified applicant for Archbishop James TG Hayes SJ scholarship needs to submit the following documents:   

  1. The result of the XU Entrance Exam will be released on the first week of January through XU website. To access it, use the account and password given to each examinee.
  2. Submit online the clear scanned copy of the following document (Deadline of application is on January 30, 2018):
        i. Two filled-out recommendation forms (downloadable online): one from the Senior High School Principal and one from Class Adviser/Guidance Counselor
        ii. Income Tax Return of both parents or if not applicable, BIR statement of Tax Exemption with attached Affidavit of Sources of Income
        iii. Latest 1x1 picture
        iv. Printed Scholarship Offer Letter and bring the hard copy of the scanned documents on Feb 10, 2018, for the interview with the Scholarship Board Committee
        v. Receive notice via email of the Scholarship Award
        vi. Download and submit the Confirmation Slip on or before the 1st week of March for the contract signing.

Athletics and Performing Arts Scholarship

Varsity and members of the performing arts group (examples: dance troupe, glee club, theater group, XU Band, and other groups) are granted scholarships based on active membership and excellent performance as athletes and resident artists of Xavier Ateneo. They render service to the university and to the wider community through their active participation in the promotion of sports and culture and the arts.
