The primary objective of the XA-KTTO is to bridge the gap between academic excellence and the practical application of research and ideas. The office serves as a conduit for sharing knowledge, fostering partnerships, and enabling the transformation of cutting-edge research into real-world solutions that benefit society, industry, and the economy.

 The XA-KTTO  has the mandate to aid the university in the achievement of the following:

Knowledge Commercialization:

It functions as a conduit between the academic research work of the institution and the commercial market, facilitating the diffusion of ideas, technologies, and intellectual properties from their origin in classrooms to other societal spheres. This helps to actualize the results of research into products that are tangible, services and procedures for society’s benefit hence playing a role in economic development.

Industry Partnerships:

By being proactive and reaching out to industry players, this office spots opportunities for association including technology licensing or joint researches. This leads to the creation of new business projects with new jobs and solutions for real-life challenges.

Entrepreneurship Support:

For students, faculty members, and alumni aspiring entrepreneurship or technology commercialization, the XA-KTTO offers support systems like; mentoring programs, access to capital/funds for starting up businesses (seeding), coaching on business development processes and linkages that foster creativity and entrepreneurialism.

Economic Growth:

It aids in the regional and national economic development through its operations which: (1) assist in the knowledge and technology transfer, (2) support the growth of technology-based industries, and (3) improve the competitiveness among local entrepreneurs.

Impact of Research:

By facilitating the transfer of research findings to the marketplace, this office improves the impact of research activities at the university thereby raising the visibility and relevance of Xavier Ateneo in the academic, industrial and government circles.

 In particular, the XA-KTTO aims to achieve the following:

  • Drafting a streamlined process of intellectual property protection, licensing, and technology transfer;
  • Creating programs  that will enhance collaborations between our faculty and student researchers, industry partners, entrepreneurs, and investors;
  • Creating systems/processes for the identification and evaluation of research and innovation opportunities with the potential for commercialization and societal impact;
  • Creating program that will improve knowledge exchange and innovation through workshops, seminars, and networking events, among others;
  • Ensuring the alignment of the office with the university's mission, vision, and strategic goals;
  • Fostering a culture of innovation and technology transfer within the university;
  • Development and implementation of a strategic plan, focusing on knowledge and technology transfer, commercialization, and innovation;
  • Enhancing and fostering collaboration between faculty, students, and external stakeholders to promote the application of research and innovation in real-world settings;
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of training programs and workshops to enhance faculty and student skills in technology transfer and innovation;
  • Developing and maintaining a strong network of industry partners, investors, Technology Business Incubators (TBIs), other relevant organizations and stakeholders to support the commercialization of research and the development of startups;
  • Collaborating with the university's research centers and institutes to promote interdisciplinary research and collaboration;
  • Sharing the university's technology transfer experiences with regional and international stakeholders to promote innovation and collaboration;
  • Monitoring and evaluating the office performance, making necessary adjustments to its programs to ensure its effectiveness and efficiency;
