As the City of Cagayan de Oro bustles and thrives, more roads are built, more buildings are constructed and an influx of people pour in and out of the city. Indeed, our city is about to become a metropolis.

With this, we bring you the Forum on Metropolization: Social and Environmental Challenges and Opportunities on January 21, 2020 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM at the XU Little Theater. The forum will serve as the venue for discussion on the metropolization plans for the city as well as the challenges and opportunities it will pose.

Tagbuan and Food Festival

With the emerging metropolization of the City of Cagayan de Oro, comes the boost in its trade and economy. One of its most defining modes of trading is the Tagbuan where all sorts of products, from fruits to vegetables and even cloth, are sold. And this SD Week 2020 we’re bringing this to you. Come and visit our Tagbuan booth at the SC Grounds where fruits and vegetables harvested by our partner beneficiaries from Barangay Langaon, Bukidnon and from the Manresa Farm will be for sale. The Tagbuan will be from January 20-24, 2020.

This Social Development Week 2020, the SD Office brings into mind the Filipino resilience with the Service Learning Summit: “Engaging Xavier Ateneo to the frontiers of building resilient communities” on January 22, 2020 8:30 AM – 12:00 NN at the XU Little Theater. The summit will highlight projects and engagements of Xavier Ateneo’s Service Learning Program that have contributed in building resilient communities in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon.

Together, let us celebrate the Filipinos’ spirit of resilience!

Toy Collection Drive

This Toy Collection Drive is a campaign launched by Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan through the Student Social Involvement and Advocacy Program (SSIAP) under the Social Development Office. This campaign aims to gather toys from the Xavier Ateneo community that will be used to establish a toy library for the kids in Makilala, North Cotabato. This is part of the psychosocial intervention that Xavier University is extending to the victims of the recent earthquakes.

LIWAY E POSTER

Liway is an independent film that showcases the life of a boy growing up in prison because his parents were put in jail for fighting against the Martial Law. 
 
This film showing is brought to the Xavier Ateneo community by the Xavier University Social Development Office through the Student Social Involvement and Advocacy Program (SSIAP), in partnership with the Human Rights Violations Victims' Memorial Commission (HRVVMC). It will be held from November 21 to 22, 2019, at the XU Little Theater.
