On 21 March, Xavier Ateneo University President Fr Mars P Tan SJ shared his sentiments on information technology and artificial intelligence during his opening message.

“…Information technology plays a crucial role in transforming the way universities, colleges, and schools operate and deliver education. Information technology enables universities to enhance teaching and learning experiences through online platforms, virtual classrooms, and interactive tools. It also facilitates efficient communication between students, faculty and staff, making collaboration easier and more effective. We’ve experienced this during COVID pandemic… we relied on the technology… to be able to carry out the task of teaching and also the task of educating our students. And now you’ve talked about artificial intelligence… And, of course, we know that IT in universities enhances the learning environment to prepare students for the technology-driven world upon graduation. Embracing IT in universities today is essential for staying competitive, fostering innovation and ensuring academic success.”

Fr Mars also expressed his gratitude to PSITE as he believes they can ensure that the university is adaptive and responsive to the educational challenges of the 21st century which is now mainly in the area of information technology.
