The Jesuit Volunteers Philippines Foundation Inc (JVP) is extending help to its direct beneficiaries who have lost their homes to Typhoon Sendong by funding the construction of their houses at Xavier Ecoville, the resettlement community in Barangay Lumbia led by Xavier University.

More than 500 housing units are currently being constructed at the relocation site, in addition to community facilities such as a multi-purpose hall, a chapel and a toy library that are already operational. JVP’s donation of P330,000.00 will be used to build the houses of three of its direct beneficiaries now residing at the temporary shelter of Xavier Ecoville.

JVP is a lay organization that aspires to contribute to nation-building by promoting volunteerism. For at least a year, young men and women assist schools, NGOs, missions and social development agencies by serving as volunteer teachers, youth formators, parish workers or community organizers in areas where volunteers are greatly needed.
