The cheerdance competition set the mood for this year’s intramurals aptly titled “Ruby Olympics” as the university celebrates its 80th anniversary.

Students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, parents and guests packed the gym for the opening ceremonies Saturday, which was highlighted by the cheer dance competition.

The athletes did not lack in support as the crowd cheered non-stop for their respective colleges. The cheerdancers wowed the crowd with their souped-up stunts and energetic dance moves. The College of Arts and Sciences was proclaimed cheerdance champion, followed by the College of Agriculture in first place and the College of Computer Studies in second place.

This year’s games include volleyball, soccer, softball, basketball, badminton, chess, taekwondo, swimming, athletics, table tennis, lawn tennis, sepak takraw and dance sports. The intramurals will run from Sept 14-21.
