Fitness, Fun and Friendship. These are the three ingredients that make the Xavier University College Alumni Sports Fest 2013 even more vibrant and meaningful, imparted XU President Fr Roberto Yap SJ.

Participants from different colleges gathered once again in their beloved alma mater to compete in different friendly games.

“This is your home and we want you to come home to experience continuing formation,” the president said to the alumni. He also reminded them that holistic formation should not stop.

The opening ceremony held on Sept 1 started with a motorcade, from XU to Lim Ket Kai Center, Claro M Recto Avenue, Carmen and back to the University.

One of the goals of the sports fest is to underline the importance of improving and maintaining physical fitness despite busy schedules.
“Exercise is not an option, it is really required,” Fr Bobby told everyone in attendance.

In the spirit of fun, he continued, what is important is that the alumni enjoy the games and imbibe the value of sportsmanship.

The third ingredient, he said, is friendship. “The idea of this sports fest is to bring the alumni closer, to develop deeper friendship.”
This sports event is a special activity of the Alumni Affairs Office (AAO) for the XU Ruby anniversary and is part of the Mission and Ministry Week celebration from Sept 2-8 with the theme, “Hearts for others.”
