To strengthen security in the campus vicinity, the Xavier University High School (XUHS) Class of 1963 will construct a police outpost in the vacant lot beside the university gymnasium.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Sept 1 as a special event of the Alumni Affairs Office (AAO) for the XU Ruby celebration and for the Mission and Ministry Week.

“[The police outpost] is important for the safety and security of the students. There will be visible police presence in the locality and in our campus,” XU President Fr Roberto Yap SJ said.

Among those present during the ceremony were the members of XUHS Class ’63 and their spouses, Vice President for Mission and Ministry Irene Grace A Guitarte, AAO Director Dr Virginia Lourdes C Yacapin, Engr Noemi Dacudao, and the XU Band.

Michael E Sison, on behalf of their class, dedicated this project to their alma mater that molded them to become “men for others” and in celebration of their golden jubilee.

Not just for Ateneans

Police presence at all times is eyed to solve and prevent crimes around Divisoria and the nearby barangays.

“The service [of the police outpost] is not only for our students. What we do must be for the service of others, for the city…especially for the community around Divisoria,” Sison said.

Construction of the police outpost is expected to be completed on November 30, in time for this year’s alumni homecoming and Xavier Festival Days.

XUHS Class ‘63 will also put up a guardhouse and waiting shed at the Center for Integrated Technologies (CIT) campus in Manresa.
