The Governance and Leadership Institute (GLI) of Xavier University conducted a workshop on effective campaign management recently for aspiring 2016 candidates.

The workshop included the science and art behind political campaigning, best practices of winning candidates, grassroots and volunteer organizing, the role of social media, election guidelines, and effective delivery of the campaign messages.

“Our goal is to create consciousness on social development agenda even during the campaign,”  remarked Dr Hilly Ann Roa-Quiaoit, XU vice-president for Research and Social Outreach in her message to the participants.

Participants originated from the different Mindanao provinces:  Impasug-ong and Maaybalay City, Bukidnon; Maasim, Sarangani; Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur; Magsaysay, Davao del Sur; Mambajao, Camiguin; Dujali, Davao del Norte; and Surigao del Sur Provincial Government.

“I’ve been in politics for many years but this training has taught me something new, something meaningful,” said Mayor Arthur Davin of Mahayag, Davao del Sur.

GLI offers campaign management training as part of XU’s good governance agenda under its RSO thrusts.
