A team from Xavier University Grade School (XUGS) placed second in the 3rd Cagayan de Oro College - PHINMA Education Network Basic Education Invitational Science and Math Olympiad, Wednesday, February 10 at the activity center of Limketkai Mall.

XUGS winners Antoine Benedict Gundaya of Grade 6- Campion, Kristoff John F Padilla from Gr6 - Pignatelli and Rainier Josef R Ahalajal of Gr6 - Ruiz solved complex mathematical and science problems using either mental or pen-and-paper calculations. Teachers Connie Bucod and Maryjean N Jano served as their coaches for the competition.

The young Ateneans received certificates and cash prize.

Twenty-one elementary schools across the city participated in the said event.

This annual challenge seeks to stimulate the enthusiasm and love for Mathematics and Science while introducing important concepts and problem-solving strategies among the young learners of CDO.
