A Computer Science faculty member of Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan was officially recognized on Sunday, August 21 as a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert joining more than 4,800 educators in the MIE Expert Program worldwide.

Engr Maria Ramila Jimenez was selected by Microsoft as one of the innovative educators to share ideas, apply new approaches, and learn from fellow members of this global community dedicated to honing the capabilities of students and enhancing the classroom experience through technology.

“Being selected as an MIE Expert is truly an honor,” said Jimenez. “Being part of this global community will be an enriching experience especially in sharing ideas with other educators and also to be able to improve students’ learning through [the Microsoft] technology.”

Besides building their capacities, MIE Experts serve as advisors to Microsoft and academic institutions on how to integrate technology in pedagogically-sound ways into various educational programs. They also serve as advocates in conferences, events, and training sessions on how Microsoft technology can improve learning.

“Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts are inspiring examples of educators applying new ways of teaching and learning in their classrooms that motivate students and empower them to achieve more,” said Microsoft vice-president for worldwide education Anthony Salcito. “We celebrate and support the work they do every day!”

Interested educators may join the Microsoft Educators Community to learn more and grow professionally, exchange ideas, make connections globally, and earn international recognitions. ∎
