To foster greater understanding of the lessons in Christian Humanism, particularly on the Church and sacraments, 13 sections of Xavier University Senior High School competed in a quiz bowl on September 7 at the Museo de Oro grounds.

The XUSHS Church and Sacraments Quiz Bowl, themed "Extraordinary Year of Mercy," formed part of the 2016 Mission and Ministry Week Celebration.

After three (easy, medium, and difficult) rounds of questions, Grade 11 Fr dela Colombiere team emerged victorious. G11 Fr Bellarmine and Gr11 Fr Lucas teams ranked second and third, respectively.

Each section had four members. The judges of the said quiz bowl were Terence Jerome Maceren from the Campus Ministries, Arniel Daluz from the Formation Program, and Religious Studies Department chairperson Dr Belinda Calibo.

XUSHS assistant principal for formation Rogelio A Lee Jr led the awarding ceremony. The winners received special tokens and certificates of recognition.

In his message, Lee emphasized the relevance of the said quiz bowl, saying that this kind of activity started a few years ago during the time of the late Dr Lovenia Naces, who was the coordinator of the Xavier for Life Movement.

The activity was dedicated to Naces for her strong commitment to student’s academic and spiritual formation. ∎
