Xavier Ateneo College of Engineering staged its Final Year Project Display (FYPD), an exhibit of the best outputs of its graduating students, at the new engineering building on Friday, February 10.

With the inspirational talk by vice-president for basic education Dr Dulce Dawang on the theme “Experience Engineering Excellence,” the FYPD, an annual showcase by and competition among graduating Engineering students, aims to develop sustainable technologies that will benefit communities’ livelihood and improve their quality of life.

Of the 53 entries in the FYPD this year, only three were awarded after thorough screening.

The Civil Engineering team, with their final project titled “Structural Flood Mitigating Measures in the Bitan-ag Watershed” won the first prize.

The Chemical Engineering team’s “Flexible Polyurethane Foam from Post-consumer Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) Bottles via Microwave-assisted Glycolysis” ranked second.

Lastly, the Mechanical Engineering team’s “Barangay Imbatug Baungon Bukidnon'd Pico-Hydro Power Generator” landed on top 3.
