Members of the Xavier Ateneo community expressed their sympathies and hopes in letters for the victims of the Marawi siege and the military personnel stationed there.

The XU Mission and Ministry, through the National Service Training Program (NSTP), held the project dubbed as “Letters of Hope” from July to August.

Faculty and staff members, student leaders from the XU Central Student Government, and pupils from the XU Grade School up to the tertiary level participated in the letter-writing activity.

The project aimed to uplift our brothers and sisters from Marawi who were affected by the crisis, to morally support the military personnel who were assigned to reclaim Marawi from the hands of the Maute Group, and for Mindanao as a whole to spread a culture of peace through solidarity and love.

XU’s Office of the Mission and Ministry delivered these letters to Marawi along with the relief goods given by various donors through the #TabangMarawi relief operations facilitated by the Social Development cluster.∎
