The Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan Dr Jose P Rizal School of Medicine reaped the top seven spot in the September 2017 Physician Licensure Examination (PLE), one place higher than last year's results.
Fifty-four out of 56 XU examinees passed the said board exam, earning the university a passing rate of 96.43%. Only schools with 50 or more examinees were ranked.
In an online post, the XU Dr Jose P Rizal School of Medicine Student Council 2017-2018 congratulated the members of Batch Electus on their achievement: "'The wolf is strong, relentless, and full of wisdom.' Congratulations, XUJPRSM Wolves! We are proud of you."
In his message to the academic community, Xavier Ateneo president Fr Roberto C Yap SJ said: "Congratulations to our new Xavier Ateneo Physicians! May you truly become physicians for others, instruments of God’s compassion and healing!"
Yap also expressed his gratitude to the people behind this success of the university. "We thank dean Dr Ruth S Beltran, faculty, and staff of the Dr Jose P Rizal School of Medicine for the guidance and support they have given to our students," he said.
According to the announcement of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), released on Friday, Sept 22, only 3,340 out of 4,064 passed the PLE (national passing rate of 82.18%).
PLE was administered by the PRC Board of Medicine on Sept 9-10 and 16-17 at the PRC testing centers in Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, and Zamboanga.∎
