A Business Administration graduate of the class of 2017 of Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan emerged as Miss Scuba Philippines 2017 on Tuesday, October 10.

XU alumna Sherlyn Legaspi Doloriel, 23, won the title as the representative of Misamis Oriental.

“Lord, I thank you for this achievement, all glory to your name alone! You are my strength and my voice, for without you I am nothing! Ad majorem Dei gloriam!” the beauty queen prayed after the coronation night held at the Plaza Atrium of Resorts World Manila.

She is set to represent our country in the Miss Scuba International 2017 in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia on November 18.

While studying at XU, Doloriel has managed to explore the sea through scuba diving, and eventually became a PADI-certified (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) scuba diver.

“Her advocacy on promoting love and respect for the environment is very commendable,” said XU vice-president for mission and ministry Irene A Guitarte in her memo to the university on Thursday, October 12.

“As one Xavier Ateneo community, let us support Ms Sherlyn Legaspi Doloriel as she continues to excel in her advocacies. She is definitely one beautiful woman with a heart for the environment,” Guitarte added.

Doloriel was also crowned Miss Cagayan de Oro 2016 and a finalist in the Miss Earth Philippines 2017.∎
