The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) has recently recognized Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan’s long-standing support to the organization’s mission.

The citation added that the Luxembourg-based nonprofit values Xavier Ateneo’s “ongoing contribution to IAESTE by actively promoting the exchange programme and providing traineeships to international students for over 10 years.”

Xavier Ateneo has been hosting IAESTE students from Germany, Austria, and Slovakia, for a two-month training and immersion almost every year.

The Engineering Resource Center (ERC) of the university serves as the main unit accommodating the exchange students. The interns had been involved in different projects in chemical, mechanical, and civil engineering, working together with communities on various issues.

The IAESTE Board is pleased to present the said award on behalf of all its member-countries as a mark of the association’s appreciation of XU’s efforts in providing academic, industrial, and community experiences for the international students.

Xavier Ateneo’s Office of International Cooperation and Networking (OICN) received the certificate earlier this month.

Founded in 1948, IAESTE, according to its website, serves over 4,000 students, 3,000 employers, and 1,000 academic institutions through “career-focused professional internships abroad, social and intercultural reception programmes, international networking, and other career and employer branding activities in more than 80 countries worldwide.”

Xavier Ateneo is among the seven partner institutions of IAESTE in the Philippines.∎
