Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan has joined hands with People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) to launch the Diploma Program on Human Resources Management (DHRM) this May.

The diploma program is aimed at developing greater knowledge and expertise on managing people across industries in Northern Mindanao. It is intended to complement the hands-on experience of current office administrators, business owners, HR practitioners, and provide a more professional understanding and insights into the technical and operational matters associated with managing people and complying with labor laws.

“The DHRM is being taught by industry professionals who have a lot of knowledge and experience,” explained PMAP-CDO president Sol Amir.

“It’s an exciting time for us and an excellent opportunity for those who are currently working full-time in Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte, Bukidnon, Camiguin, and Misamis Occidental. The approach will afford the students a deeper insight into their profession, allowing them to take better decisions in their work while giving them a competitive advantage in their career,” Amir added.

Designed for working professionals, the program runs only on Saturdays and can be completed in less than a year. It will provide students with an excellent balance between theoretical understanding and practical insights in the current environment.

Those who seek to develop or strengthen their career path will be taking five certificate courses under this diploma program.

The certificate courses may be taken singly or as part of the whole program. The five certificate courses are on Human Resource Development, HR Planning & Acquisition, Organization Development, Labor Relations, and Compensation Management.

DHRM coordinator Roger Lee, who is also an assistant professor at Xavier Ateneo’s Department of Psychology, shared that the “DHRM builds on the technical and operational aspects of HR and addresses the demand and identified gaps in the market with the academic rigor of a higher diploma.”

Students can earn a credit of 3 units through each certificate course. Following the diploma program, students can continue their studies to a degree level by applying the credits they will earn.

“We look forward to welcoming our diploma students in the next few weeks.”∎
