Sister Helen Libo-on, Institute of the Sisters |
It's an immense honor to stand before you today and accept this award on behalf of the Sisters of Mercy. We are deeply grateful for this recognition. For more than 6 decades, the Sisters of Mercy have been called to serve, to uplift, and to bring God's love to those who need it most. From the bustling cities to the most remote villages, we've walked alongside the people of Mindanao, sharing in their joys and bearing their burdens. Our work has been diverse, yet always centered on the teachings of Christ: educating the young, caring for the sick, comforting the vulnerable, and advocating for justice. We've seen lives transformed, communities strengthened, and hope rekindled, all through the grace of God and the dedication of countless individuals—our fellow sisters, our collaborators, and the many kind souls who have supported our mission. This award is not just for us; it's a tribute to every person who has opened their heart to our ministry, who has offered a helping hand, and who has believed in the power of compassion. It reminds us that our work, though often challenging, is truly meaningful and has a profound impact. Let this moment inspire all of us to continue striving for a better world. Let us remember that even the smallest act of kindness can create ripples of change. Let us embrace the challenges with courage and conviction, knowing that our faith will guide us. To the young people among us, I urge you to listen to the call of your hearts. There is immense joy and fulfillment in serving others and contributing to something greater than yourselves. The Church, and indeed the world, needs your energy, your ideas, and your compassionate spirit. And to everyone, let us hold fast to hope. In a world that often feels divided, let us be instruments of unity and understanding. Let us continue to build bridges of love and mercy, just as Christ taught us. Thank you once again for this incredible honor. We are truly humbled and recommit ourselves to serving the Church and the people of Mindanao with unwavering dedication and boundless love. May God bless you all. |
