The College of Agriculture is one with Xavier University’s mission statement as Filipino, Catholic and Jesuit educational community dedicated to the integral development of the person for the needs of Mindanao, the Philippines and Asia Pacific, “to form men and women of competence, conscience and commitment in the service of the Church, the global community and the Filipino people”.

Its educational apostolate involves an integrated program of instruction, research, extension, and production which strives and is committed to the wholistic formation of the students, leaders and innovators who will promote Sustainable Agriculture and other relevant technologies and a more equitable access to resources within the context and realities of global challenges and people participation.

The College is recognized as a Provincial Institute of Agriculture by CHED under the National Agriculture and Fisheries Education System (NAFES), 2012 and granted by CHED as a Center of Excellence in Agriculture Education since 2016. After the restructuring of the graduate programs took effect in AY 2021-2022, CoA now houses one (1) graduate program: Master of Science in Agricultural Economics (MSAGECON).

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

The program will produce graduates who will:

1. Demonstrate enhanced analytical and decision-making skills, enabling them to excel in roles within agricultural finance, policy analysis, and market research.

2. Possess the expertise to lead interdisciplinary teams, develop innovative solutions, and contribute to cutting-edge research in agricultural economics and related fields.

3. Effectively communicate complex economic concepts and analyses to diverse stakeholders, including policymakers, farmers, industry professionals, and the broader community.

4. Practice the economic principles to promote sustainable agricultural practices, address global food security challenges, and contribute to the development of resilient agricultural systems.
