The Cagayan de Oro Price Coordinating Council (CDO-CPCC), along with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and XU Economics (Economics Department and Economics Society), conducted a quality and price inspection of Christmas lights and rice sold at the Carmen market last November 14 and 21.

The aim of the monitoring was to ensure that retailers of Christmas lights complied with the ICC (Import Commodity Clearance) and PS (Philippine Standard) requirements, which serve as indicators for quality and safety standards.

The other objective of the activity was to spread awareness on purchasing and using products with safety and quality certificate. The inspection also served as a warning to those who are thinking of defrauding the consumers.

Meanwhile, the price monitoring of rice SRP was aimed at giving a warning and identifying violators of the proper pricing. The stores at the Carmen market were told to adhere to the implemented SRP, providing a fair exchange between consumer and seller.

XU Economics Dept represented the academe in the said coordinating council.
