For nearly a century, Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan has stood as a beacon of hope, learning, and transformation in Mindanao and the Philippines. Since its founding in 1933, she has nurtured generations of leaders with vision, character, and an unwavering commitment to serve. Through the trials of the second world war in the 1940s, the challenges of the pandemic in the 2020s, and countless other hurdles, Xavier Ateneo has not only endured but thrived - ever steadfast, ever faithful, ever rooted in the ideals of St Ignatius of Loyola.
As Xavier Ateneo draws closer to her centennial year, we honor her legacy of resilience and grace. We stand by her as she pursues her goals to have bigger dreams, broader reach, and greater impact on the region and the world. This 27-30 November 2024, we commence our Centennial Celebration in this year’s Xavier University Festival Days, ushering in a decade-long journey of gratitude, reflection, and hope. This year’s festival built its programs around the theme On to the Next Era as it engages members of the XU community and other stakeholders to actively participate in the university’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation and competitiveness. As One Xavier, one community, we journey with her and witness her resolute strides to the future -- ready to embrace new horizons and explore untrodden paths. We invite every Xavier Atenean - past, present, and future - to come together and shape the next chapter of our shared history.
Each year until her centennial, a different sub-theme will be introduced underpinning the university’s centennial endeavors. This 10-year journey will be a remembrance and honoring of the past and embracing the future with hope and determination. As this year’s sub-theme On to Stronger Connections and Newer Grounds pronounces, XU continues to foster and strengthen her relations with the XU community, alumni, and other stakeholders, stay committed to innovation and competitiveness; and sustain her brand of service. She remains true to her advocacies as she transitions to her new home in Masterson, the Campus of the Future, in 2033 where she will continue her mission to produce graduates of competence, conscience and commitment.
As we embark on this exciting new chapter, let us celebrate the rich history, heritage, and community that have made Xavier Ateneo what it is today. Here’s to a promising future and a stronger Xavier Ateneo.
