In a historic milestone for Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan, three exemplary students from its Economics program were inducted into the Young Economists Honor Society (YEHS) of the Philippine Economic Society (PES) for the third time. The honored students—Joanna Camille B Aparece, Sean Rafael B Awatin, and Jasper Seth C Tan—represent the university’s unwavering commitment to academic distinction in this prestigious recognition program, which celebrates academic excellence and professional potential among young economists.
The PES launched YEHS in 2017, aiming to recognize top graduates in economics and related programs from universities across the Philippines. This honor society offers students a one-year complimentary membership in PES, providing opportunities for networking, professional development, and collaboration within the larger economics community. Since its inception, YEHS has inducted over 100 students from esteemed institutions such as Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, and the University of the Philippines. The inclusion of Xavier University students in this program highlights the university’s growing presence and influence in the field of economics.
By joining this esteemed network of young economists, Ms Aparece, Mr Awatin, and Mr Tan gain valuable resources that will support their professional journeys in economics, amplifying their impact in both academic and applied economic research. Their induction into the Philippine Economic Society’s Honor Society marks a significant personal achievement while also setting a precedent for future Xavier Ateneo students aspiring to excel in the field. This recognition enhances Xavier Ateneo’s reputation in economics, aligning with the PES’s commitment to expanding the honor society’s reach and celebrating talented economists from diverse institutions across the Philippines.
