The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) conferred the Excellence in Quality Assurance in Teacher Education (EQUATE) Award to Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan’s School of Education (SOE) in recognition of its unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality pre-service teacher education at the secondary level. The prestigious award ceremony was held on 2 April 2025, at the Manila Hotel, Rizal Park, Ermita, Manila.
The EQUATE Award is a national recognition program that honors high-performing Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) that consistently uphold the highest standards in teacher education, accreditation, and licensure examination performance. Xavier University’s SOE has continually demonstrated excellence by fostering a rigorous academic environment that aligns with the nation’s goal of producing competent and highly qualified educators. This recognition is a testament to SOE’s commitment to maintaining CHED’s quality assurance benchmarks, ensuring that future educators are well-equipped with the knowledge, skills, and professional values essential for national education development.
Among the EQUATE awardees in Northern Mindanao for secondary teacher education were PHINMA Cagayan de Oro College, Central Mindanao University, La Salle University – Ozamiz, Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology, and Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan. The inclusion of Xavier University in this distinguished roster highlights its steadfast dedication to teacher education excellence and continuous program enhancement.
Representing Xavier University’s School of Education at the EQUATE Awards was Dr Kathleen M Morales, Professional Education Coordinator and Assistant to the Vice President for Higher Education on Curriculum and Instruction, who received the award on behalf of Xavier University and SOE Dean, Dr Edralin C Manla. This recognition further fuels SOE’s commitment to embracing innovative teaching strategies, fostering educational leadership, and shaping the future of teacher education in the Philippines.
