The efforts of Xavier Ateneo thru the leadership of its Social Development Cluster have been contributory to the various evacuation centers in Marawi City especially in Barangay Bito Buadi Itowa as responses to the call to help the internally displaced families and communities of the Marawi siege. Xavier Ateneo ensures extension and distribution of funds and donations raised thru relief operation, psychosocial intervention, health operation services, feeding program, and training on sustainable agriculture to the affected communities who are temporarily living in the select evacuation centers mentioned above.
With this, it is essential to mount a multimedia art exhibit about the Marawi siege and the collective efforts of the university for the purpose of educating the community as regards the recent crisis that proves the fervent aspiration for peace in Mindanao. The exhibit is a reflective exposition of what has been in Marawi in its glorious past and on what it has become right now due to the siege which in most cases brought varied significant questions as regards to societal, political, developmental, economic and physical implications. This exhibit evokes responses that will allow us to become more responsible Mindanaoans in particular and as Filipinos in general.
This exhibit features the works of Froilan Gallardo, Bobby Lagsa, Kulai Millian, Alynnah Macla, Oscar Floirendo, Bing Cariño, Robert de la Serna, and editing of the video slides by Oriel Gallardo and de la Serna.
Handuraw Marawi – a Mission Exhibit is Xavier Ateneo’s, thru its Social Development Cluster, Xavier Center for Culture and the Arts and its Museo de Oro, contribution to the Mindanao Week of Peace celebration, Xavier University Festival Days 2017 and its cluster celebration in January 2018. You are all invited to the opening of the exhibit on November 29 at 10AM at the Museo de Oro Grounds.
The exhibit caters not only Xavier Ateneo but also the Northern Mindanao community who shall be invited to view the exhibit. Social Development Cluster’s stakeholders, networks, and sponsors shall benefit this exhibit as a responsible artistry expression of their collective efforts on development work for the country.∎
