The Gender and Development (GAD) Office of Xavier University, established in 2023, is dedicated to promoting and mainstreaming gender equality, sensitivity, and responsiveness across the university’s curriculum, research, and extension programs. Guided by a commitment to gender mainstreaming, the office seeks to advance a culture of empathy, respect, and social responsibility within the institution.
It works to raise awareness of gender issues and supports efforts that address gender-based violence, discrimination, and inequality—both within the university and the broader community. The GAD Office collaborates with various university units, external partners, and stakeholders to deepen understanding of genderrelated challenges, strengthen the impact of GAD initiatives, and contribute to meaningful and lasting social change.
The office operates under the guidance of the GAD Focal Point System (GFPS), the university’s primary mechanism for mainstreaming Gender and Development (GAD). The GFPS plays a key role in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating GAD-related programs, activities, and policies.
