Lansad is the annual photography exhibit of the Development Communication Department's photography class. DevCom, under the College of Agriculture of Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan, is celebrating its 42nd founding anniversary.

Lansad 2016 features the photographs taken by the junior DevCom students after a three-day immersion in Sumilao, Bukidnon.

The Sumilao farmers fought non-violently for more than two decades to get their lands as part of agrarian reform programs of the government. Firstly, they staged a 28-day hunger strike in front of the main agrarian reform office in the capital. Ten years later, they marched for more than 1,700 kilometers from Bukidnon to Manila to bring public pressure on the national government to grant them their lands. Through a cooperative, the Sumilao farmers were able to get their lands a year later.

This year's Lansad is dedicated to the struggles of the Sumilao farmers and their footprints toward triumph as captured in vivid photographs by the DevCom students. ∎
