Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan sent Dr Shierlyn S Paclijan, a faculty member from the Chemical Engineering department of the College of Engineering, to participate in an observation week at the Politecnico di Torino (POLITO) on May 27-31, 2019, in Turin, Italy.
This activity formed part part of the GECKO program, a European Union and Erasmus+ funded project, aimed at enhancing the employability of engineers from Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
The five-day trip included a campus tour, class observation and meetings with the faculty of engineering, particularly from the Department of Management and Production Engineering.
The participants also visited POLITO’s I3P, the Incubator of Innovative Enterprises, Integrated Additive Manufacturing laboratories, and Contamination Lab and Innovation Kitchen (CLIK), which highlighted the integration of innovation and entrepreneurial culture in their engineering programs.
Dr Paclijan joined other faculty representatives from Ateneo de Manila University, University of the Philippines, Burapha University and Ubon Ratchathani University in Thailand, and University Gadjah Madah in Indonesia.∎
