The XU-geoDRR team actively participated in the geoDRR educational study visit and transnational project meeting held at the University of Alicante in Alicante, Spain from 12-16 June. The XU team is composed of its project leader, Dr Hercules Cascon, Dean of the College of Engineering; Engr Dexter Lo, Vice President for Social Development and faculty member of the College of Engineering; and Dr Shiella Balbutin, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Networking.

The educational study visit is part of the Erasmus+ geoDRR (Geomatics for Disaster Risk Reduction) project and it brought together participants from the partner countries in Asia – Cambodia, Malaysia, Philippines; and Europe – Greece, Luxembourg, Poland, Spain. This workshop aims to equip academic, administrative, and technical staff from partner countries’ Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competences to effectively develop the Master in Geomatics for Disaster Risk Reduction program in their respective institutions.

This opportunity allows the XU team to enhance their expertise, exchange best practices, and establish international connections. Their active involvement in the project underscores Xavier University’s commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation in disaster risk reduction efforts.
