On December 16, 2021, Typhoon Odette (Internationally known as Typhoon Rai) hit the Dinagat Islands. Bringing forth heavy rains, aggressive winds, landslides, and storm surges. 38, 438 families were heavily affected by the typhoon.

NSTP 2 students in Xavier University, initiated Project: Sole for a Soul which aims to provide slippers to the children in the Dinagat Islands affected by the wrath of the typhoon.  The students at the same time managed social media dissemination and organized campaign strategies to make this project feasible. Collection of donations were started with the NSTP 2 classes and were maximised to purchase slippers for the children.  Along with the slippers, students were also encouraged to write a letter of hope to be given to the children together with their new pair of slippers.

The second mission team from Xavier University went to Dinagat Islands on March 24, 2022 for the turn-over of these slippers to the children in Barangay Boa, in the municipality of Cagdianao.  This activity signals the last operation for the #XUTabangOdette’s relief operations but the initiatives of the NSTP students will continue to be facilitated to still provide slippers for the typhoon Odette affected children.

The slippers and letters of hope is a small but selfless act of the NSTP students to exemplify the Ignatian value of spirituality for God’s greater glory.
